The City of Santa Barbara will be studying the area to see how various options can address the challenges in the area while preserving and protecting the historic structures and important character of this area of Mission Canyon. Some of the items that will be studied include:

  • 1891 original bridge

  • 1929 pedestrian walkway attached to bridge
     

  • 1930 bridge addition

  • concrete in creek

  • sandstone walls (1891 - 1930)

  • water trough at the corner of Mission Canyon Road and Mountain Drive

  • various ways to add pedestrian pathways, crosswalks, and/or connections to neighborhood cultural organizations and parks

  • alternatives for adding bike lanes

  • ways to improve structural integrity and prepare for earthquakes

  • options for increasing sight distance for drivers
